The Bahamas became a British Crown Colony in 1718, as the British clamped down on piracy after Queen Anne's War, in the era of Blackbeard. They remained a Crown Colony until 1973. As such they were a part of the British Empire, all of which was at war with the Central Powers during WWI. Probably the greatest contribution of the Bahamas to the cause was as a base for the Royal Navy, on the lookout for commerce raiders, surface ships evading the blockade of Germany to reach the open seas and prey upon British and Allied merchant ships. This was not a huge threat, however. German submarines of WWI lacked the cruising range to get to this side of the Atlantic, and so were also not a threat. I know of no unit of colonial troops from the Bahamas which fought in Europe, or in Africa or the Middle East where there was also some combat. Individual Bahamians may have fought
