I had a problem of the trunk not staying close when shut. it was because for some reason the bracket on the bottom side was not seated properly although there were no visible dents or bending. At first i replaced the opening mechanism with one from a junk yard, and that did not work. In the end all that was needed was to change the angle of the bracket on the bottom, to do this.
Loosen the to hex bolts on the bracket
On the bottom side of the bracket put something ~1/8" thick between the bracket and the body of the car ( I used a thick zip tie because it is easy to slide in).
re-tighten bolts.
If it still does not close try using something thicker.
Sorry, but your question makes no sense at all. What does a trunk lock have to do with your car starting or not.
the boot lock is jammed and I cant get it to unlock so that I can secure the car - how do I unlock it please? Key wont work
replace the door or buy a new car.
Reverse the way you jammed it
To remove a trunk lock from the outside of a car, start by opening the trunk and locating the screws or bolts that secure the lock mechanism. Depending on the model, you may need to remove the interior trunk lining to access these fasteners. Once exposed, use the appropriate tools to unscrew or unbolt the lock assembly. Finally, disconnect any wiring or clips if the lock has electrical components, and gently pull the lock out from the trunk lid.
