I heard the "4 week" delivery estimate when I was in Hawaii too, but I just checked the USPS Postage Calculator, and it is saying the time is only ONE week.
Whenever you ship anything from the US Continental parcel post to Hawaii, depending on what part - East, Midwest or West. It is by slow boat. meaning truck to barge no airplanes. It could take up to a month or even more.

Using the US and Mexican Postal services. It however, does not guarantee that your package will ever reach its intended destination. Your best bet is FedEx or DHL.

That depends how urgent it is to you or the recipient and how deep you want to reach into your pocketbook. UPS and Fedex love you and will get it there very fast indeed for a price.
