Anne Hutchinson served as the first woman colonial leader in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
The pilgrims lived in Massachusetts and they were friends with the Indians and had the first Thanksgiving by sharing a bountiful feast with the natives. In Rhode Island, a man named Roger Williams founded the colony and it had religious freedom. Roger Williams had evaded England because he'd been a former Puritan minister who "rebelled" and he evaded arrest then formed his colony.

Massachusetts was settled by the Pilgrims in 1620. They established the Plymouth Colony. The next settlement in Massachusetts was the Cape Ann Settlement.
Virginia was the home of the very first settlement in 1607 with Jamestown and then in 1620 came the Pilgrims to Massachusetts and Plymouth colony.
Virginia and Massachusetts were separate colonies and now separate states.
