Bangladesh was formerly known as "East Pakistan" after the partition of British India. Pakistan was "West Pakistan". "East Pakistan" seceded from "West Pakistan" in 1971 after a short but vicious civil war, aided by India.
When sheikh's Mujbul Rehman was elected as president of Pakistan, west Pakistan did not recognize it. This lead to him being arrested and a political unrest started, leading to a war , with India joining it . West Pakistan lost the war and they became two countries Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Separation Movement in East Pakistan Started after Nation Assembly Elections in 1971. Political crisis were not tackled effectively by the statesmen of that time. Further to it Pakistan and India got involved in war which resulted in separation of East Pakistan (Bangladesh) from West Pakistan.
After elections which took place in 1971, Sheikh Mujeeb of East Pakistan gained majority but in West Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was chosen by public. Bhutto didn't accept victory of Mujeeb. This conflict resulted in riots and ultimately army intervention was made by Pakistan in East Pakistan. India took advantage of this situation and attacked Pakistani borders. This whole scenario resulted in separation of East Pakistan from West Pakistan.
In August 1947, the countries of Pakistan and India were formed by the Partition of India that effectively dissolved the British Indian Empire. The country of Pakistan was characterized by two culturally and geographically separate areas popularly called West Pakistan and East Bengal (later East Pakistan). Although East Pakistan had a slightly larger population, all political power was centered in West Pakistan and it was commonly thought that East Pakistan was being financially exploited. On March 25, 1971, West Pakistan came down violently on growing political unrest and Bengal nationalism in East Pakistan ,which in turn caused East Pakistan to declare its independence and become the state of Bangladesh. Civil war ensued the following day and came to be officially known as the Bangladesh Liberation War.
yes it was. Pakistan , India and bangaldesh where one country but they seperated.Bangladesh was called East Pakistan and Pakistan was called West Pakistan. First India wanted their own country so they had a war with Pakistan and Pakistan won then Bangladesh also wanted their own country so they had a war and they won
East Pakistanis increasingly felt that the region was treated mostly as a colony of West Pakistan.
Sure. This is true. When Bhutto and Mujeeb's conflict resulted in riots and ultimately army intervention was made by Pakistan in East Pakistan. India took advantage of this situation and attacked Pakistani borders. This whole scenario resulted in separation of East Pakistan from West Pakistan.

Bangladesh came into existence in 1971 when Bengali East Pakistan seceded from its union with West Pakistan. The independence movement was marked by a brutal war of liberation, which ultimately led to the recognition of Bangladesh as a sovereign nation. This significant event reshaped the political landscape of South Asia.
Pakistan, as such, didn't exist as a separate country. It was part of the Indian sub continent, a part of the British Empire. It became a state in it's own right as a part of the Independence in 1947, as East & West Pakistan. East Pakistan goes on to become Bangladesh.
The breakup of West and East Pakistan in 1971 was primarily driven by deep-seated political, economic, and cultural disparities between the two regions. East Pakistan, home to the majority of the population, felt marginalized by the West Pakistani government, which was dominated by West Pakistani interests. The situation escalated after the 1970 general elections, where the Awami League in East Pakistan won a majority but was denied power, leading to widespread protests. The government’s military crackdown in March 1971 further intensified tensions, culminating in a war for independence and the creation of Bangladesh.
