The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was a Non-aggression act between the two which allowed Germany to attack Poland without fear of retaliation from the Soviet Union. In fact, the Soviets took portions of Eastern Poland for itself.
Russia
The first act of aggression by the German Nazis on an innocent country was the blitzkrieg attack on Poland in September of 1939. This sparked World War 2 and launched Hitler's campaign to gain all the European nations.
Nothing....they did invade Poland in 1939.
The Nazis attacked Czechoslovakia, and Austria.

In 1939, Germany and the Soviet Union signed the Non Aggression Pact. This was basically a document that said that neither country would attack the other during wartime. This was broken in 1941 when Hitler and his army invaded the Soviet Union in Operation Barbarossa; this was Hitler's fatal mistake.
Because Hitler had signed a non-aggression pact with Stalin which promised that neither would attack the other and that they would share parts of Europe (such as Poland) between them at the wars end. Hitler (surprisingly!) went back on his word.

The Nazi-Soviet Non Agression Pact was an pact between the Soviet Union and Germany. Neither side would attack each other or get involved. It was signed in August of 1939 and broken in 1941, with Hitler's invasion of the Soviet Union.
