There are 60 National Historic Landmarks in Connecticut, among which are the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford; the Mark Twain House in Hartford (home of Mark Twain from 1871 to 1891); the Birthplace of Noah Webster (American lexicographer) in West Hartford; Connecticut Hall (oldest building at Yale University) in New Haven; and First Church of Christ (church of the Amistad freed slaves) in Farmington.
