To the average Australian, Australia is not a dangerous place. Australia's crime rate is not excessive; pollution and environmental contamination levels are also not a major issue, except by comparison to the country's pristine land prior to European settlement; and the country is free of major diseases such as rabies.

Australia is filled with numerous dangerous creatures, such as venomous snakes, Spiders and jellyfish. Then there are the huge estuarine crocodiles, or large marine predators such as sharks. In reality, Australia is no more dangerous than other countries. A bit of common sense ensures one can live a long and healthy life without even being hospitalised.
