Compared to other countries in Africa, Ghana is not overpopulated but has had a huge explosion in population since 1950 when there was about 5 million people to now where there is around 25 million.
Ghana is rich in resources and is one of the biggest gold producers in Africa and also produces oil. This wealth does not flow to the population where income can be as low as $2 a day.
This wealth has attracted many immigrants from neighboring countries and this has added to the big increase in numbers.
The country has remained fairly stable and the capital Accra is (on African standards) a thriving modern city.
The big population is the result of 3 things. Firstly a stable economy where there has been the ability for family life and the birth of children. Second, the need for a big family to support the parents in old age (there is no social security). Third, the influx of immigrants.

There are over one thousand houses in Ghana. How do I know? I know because one of my family members have lived there, and he told me he had to do a report about Ghana.
