Mexico would fall within those countries that believe in cultural relativity. This can be seen in the languages, religions and ethnicity found within the country:

  • In addition to Spanish, the de-facto language spoken by 92.7% of the Mexican population, 63 Amerindian languages are recognized as national languages (e.g. can be used for official purposes); these include Nahuatl, Yucatec Maya, Mixtec, Zapotec, Tzeltal Maya, Tzotzil Maya and Otomi.
  • Most Mexicans are Mestizos, or people of mixed European ("White") and Native American background. They account for 60-80% of the population. The Native American, or Amerindian population ranges from 10% to 30% of the population and such people are the descendants of Native American peoples who inhabited Mexico before the arrival of Europeans during the 16th century. There is also a percentage of Mexicans of European descent, representing 9 to 17% of the population.
  • Mexico is a secular country, having no official religion. However, it is Roman Catholic in its majority (88%), having also other religions such as Protestantism (5.2%), Jehova's Withnesses (1.25%) or Mormons (0.25%).
