The first slaves imported by the Dutch were brought from Batavia, the Eastern empire of the Dutch which included today's Indonesia, Bali and even Malacca in Malaysia. The majority of these people were followers of Islam. Their descendants are know today as the "Cape Malays".
There is no slavery today therefore there is no present relationship with the past.
