Mexico is mostly known as being the southern neighbor of the United States. It is also known for being the home of a number of ancient pre-Colombian civilizations, having one of the world's most populous city for a capitol, and being able to survive while having the United States for a northern neighbor.   • Resort cities: Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Acapulco, Mazatlan, Zihuatanejo.
  • Sports: Soccer and the "Mexican wave"; Fernando Valenzuela at the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lucha Libre and El Santo, Blue Demon and Tinieblas wrestlers.
  • TV and movie Stars: Salma Hayek, Danny Trejo, Pedro Infante.
  • Climate: Hot-arid deserts and hot-humid jungles.
  • Ancient civilizations: Aztecs and Mayans.
  • National Holidays: Cinco de Mayo, 16th of September (Mexican Independence Day) and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
  • Handcrafts and Garments: Taxco silver jewelry, Santa Maria del Cobre copper pots, vases, casserole dishes and chandeliers; black oaxacan pottery, the all-too-famous piñatas, sombreros, zarapes or ponchos, the huipil and huarache shoes.
  • Religious traditions: the Virgencita(Virgin Mary of Guadalupe) and Tres Reyes Magos (Three wise men or Epiphany celebration); Semana Santa (Easter) and the Passion representation.
