The heater core in a Lincoln Town Car is a component of the vehicle's heating system that transfers heat from the engine coolant to the cabin air, providing warmth to the interior. If the heater core fails, it can lead to symptoms such as a lack of heat in the cabin, coolant leaks, or a sweet smell inside the vehicle. Replacing a faulty heater core typically involves significant labor, as it often requires removing parts of the dashboard. Regular maintenance can help prevent issues with the heater core.
