During the Triassic period, early dinosaurs such as Coelophysis and Daemonosaurus (both small meat eaters) and Dromomeron (a very close relative of the earliest true dinosaurs) lived in New Mexico. Around 70 to 65.5 million years ago, a large, herbivorous, long necked dinosaur (or sauropod) called Alamosaurus lived in New Mexico.

Of course, these are just some of the most notable animals whose fossils have been found in New Mexico. Looking at neighboring states, it stands to reason that besides the dinosaurs listed for the Triassic, there were various other reptiles, which at the time were more numerous than dinosaurs. Additionally, up until about 10,000 years ago, mammals such as saber toothed cats, Columbian mammoths, and giant ground sloths, to name a few, lived throughout North America, probably including New Mexico, although I don't know if their fossils have specifically been found there.
