United States and Chile similarities and differences?

In many ways, geographically, Chile is the California of The South, also The Oregon and Alaska of the South. Because Chile is similar to the US West Coast. Just consider that seasons are reversed.

As California did, Chile was a land of pioneers and settlers and also of Indians (Mapuche Tribe 5%) which rapidly were absorbed by Spanish soldiers and immigrant and settlers especially from Southern Europe (Spain, Italy, Croatia and Levant countries) and Germany.

The quality of life is the highest in Latin America, reaching similar levels to Southern Europe but without bulls and castles. So many Chilean towns has some American characteristic: shopping malls, skyscrapers, highways and hardworking people. Santiago is like a modern NYC new trends on architecture and technology.

As Mexicans in the US, Chile experiences Immigration from neighboring countries, especially Peru and Bolivia.

Both , Chile and the US, are OECD countries and they are their most developed and democratic nations in their respective continents (North and South America). The currency symbol of both countries is also $.

As the US does, major problems in Chile are on Health Access and Education Quality for the poor, which are under constant reform and improvement.

Chileans are kind, shy (not so talkative) and somewhat conservative like the US-midwest but with strong sense of family like Italy.
