No there is 9. Mexico is its on continent. So is Russia. Depends, if you want to be a weird person like the note above, then follow his idea, otherwise, yes there is 7 continents. Mexico is not separate from North America, and Russia is the same.
Because it is considered - incorrectly - to be part of Central America. Note that Middle America is usually coined to name the region between Mexico and South America, but sometimes it is also the term used to define the Midwestern United States. Mexico is in neither of both regions.

The Zimmerman note was a telegram from Germany headed to Mexico saying basically they would help Mexico invade and take over the United States, this was to detour America from Aiding their European allies
The Zimmerman telegram was a message from the German foreign secretary to the President of Mexico proposing an alliance in 1917. The German suggestion that Mexico attack the United States precipitated the American entry into World War I shortly after the contents of the telegram were published.A note sent in 1917 from the German foreign minister to his ambassador in Mexico, containing details of a proposed alliance against America.
