Alaska has rugged beauty, lots of room, and lots of resources: Oil, Gold, Lumber, Camping, Fishing, Hunting..the Iditarod (started when that dog Balto ran to Nome, Alaska a long time ago).. Some people that live way down south think that Alaska is a big place where everyone sees polar bears and wears parkas everywhere and everyone lives in igloos. It's not true, though! Alaska is known to have some of the world's biggest bears, and it is also the largest state. (There's a joke that if you cut Alaska in half, you could fit Texas in one of the halves..) Alaska is the land of the midnight sun--come visit in June and you'll see why!

Alaska is known for its friendly, independent-minded people.

In Alaska, one can show up to black-tie events wearing cargo pants, plaid, denim, or even Carharts and most Alaskans won't even bat an eyelash. Alaska is famous for how big it is and has a lot of interesting facts about it!! :-) Lumber, gold, coal, fishing, hunting, fresh air, and extreme cold in winter. Also large produce, nice people, bush pilots, and Sarah Palin.
