What does the Lone Star Republic mean?

It stood alone. There were valid reasons why the US could not and would not actively support the Texas Revolution from Mexico. The following are a few examples:

• The Tejican Colonists had departed the US, pledged their faith and loyalty to the Constitution of another nation and abanoned the US.
• These colonists violated their new constitution which forbade slavery and began the new slave era of Tejas.
• On average each colonist was granted 1,280 acres or two square miles of land at a cost of 14 cents per acre. Claims for additional adjoining acerage were made at the behest of slave owners for each of their slaves and was granted by the Emrpassario. Vast tracts of land in Tejas had been transferred to wealthy Anglo-colonists. Bribery and chicanery was ranpant. Minor hidalgos cut deals, took the money and ran.
• Under the Mexican Constitution slavery was illegal and Santa Ana went North to purge the colonists who had sworn allegiance to the Mexican Constitution as good Catholics (all colonists were required and sworn to be Catholic). They were in effect seeking refugee status from the US.
• In the US the anti-slavery movement was gaining ground and their was no political will to support the insurgency. Tejas stood alone.
