A kibbutz is a sort of collectively-run farm or commune, with many situated throughout Israel. Organised along more-or-less communist (with a lower case c, as opposed to Communist or Marxist), they were previously very popular among non-Jewish young people in Europe and America who would frequently take a year or two out from their education to work on a kibbutz but are less so now, partially as a result of the changes in popular opinion on the country.

However, there are still several with various entry requirements. A Google search for "kibbutzim in Israel" should turn up plenty of results.
