The normal firing order for a typical 3-cylinder engine, including those commonly found in Japanese vehicles, is generally 1-2-3. This means that the first cylinder fires, followed by the second, and then the third. However, it's important to note that specific firing orders can vary depending on the engine design and manufacturer, so it's always best to consult the owner's manual or service documentation for the exact configuration of a particular engine.
I assume that you mean, "2.3 liter engine," because 23 liters is pretty big, and Ford never made one that size. The firing order is 1-3-4-2, and cylinder number 1 is the one on the end where the drive belts for the alternator, etc., are; cylinder number 4 is closest to the transmission or output end of the engine. Two and three are, naturally, in order between one and four. Ignition timing is dependent upon a lot of factors, all related to engine/application questions. An initial timing of approximately five degrees before top dead center will get the engine running; you can get better specifications from a shop manual for your particular application. If it is for an automobile in the United States, Europe, Australia, or Japan, there should be a sticker under the hood which gives the tune-up specifications.

i would imagine, seeing that most GEO's made before 1996 were manufactured in Japan, that your's is probably a Japanese vehicle. my 1995 2-door hatchback was made there; i found this out by popping open the hood and seeing the "Made in Japan" sticker next to the engine diagram in there..... ANSWER This is not entirely true, the engine is a 4 cylinder suzuki engine which is built in japan. The actual assembly of the vehicle was done in Canada.
