Lincoln was at first undecided about slavery. Later on, his views were that all men were created equal and slavery had not place in the US.
He had campaigned on a ticket of no new slave-states.
Note that he was not talking about Abolition at this time.
Fredrick Douglass was against slavery (anti-slavery)
Douglas argued for the right of states to decide whether or not to allow slavery
He did not think slavery should be abolished,but he did not want it to spread to new states

Abraham Lincolns main goal at first was to keep the states together. But later slavery was included but no by choice. It just mixed in and was part of it till the end
To end slavery
He was quite insistent that he had no intention of getting rid of it. And even in the darkest days of the Civil War, he only emancipated slaves in the states that were rebelling, he left slavery legal in the northern states.

Nobody really welcomed the civil war... There were things that led up to it like the slavery issue and Lincolns election. The main thing was Lincolns electoin because states in the south started to secced from the union.
Since he was a young he thought of slavery as wrong doing.
