A US Marine Corps M48 Patton engaged an NVA PT76 (the same light tank used at Ben Het) at a river near the DMZ before Ben Het. The Marine tanker fired three 90mm shells at it, hitting it on the 3rd round. Unfortunately some F4 Phantoms returning from the North had not expended their ordnance and dropped their bombs on the hit NVA tank, knocking it out for good.
