Mosi, Mossi, Moshi, refer to the same name as it was written with different spellings by both French and British officials when they first came to Africa to colonize the African people.Concerning the major ethnic group Mossi was classified as one of the Gur tribes belonging to Mole-dagbani ethnic group or Moshi-dagomba people as Linguists and Historians claim them to be.Others call them Gurmake and another major Ghanaian language group is Gurma with some number of subgroups. The mossi language is similar to Dagomba and Mamprusi languages which I also know. The mossi was identified as one of the mole-dagbani tribes, but it was claimed in the 2010 Ghana national housing and population census that Mosi was to be changed to a different code and replaced with Wala, but the mosi people also claimed that they were also part of the Wala people because their great grand fathers were part of the people that became Walas today.Well perhaps they went to Wala or Gurma group.,I mean the pure mosi .
