I'm guessing you left out "from Florida", since that's the only state that had 27 electoral votes in 2008.The other possibility is that you left out a 0: 270 electoral votes would have been sufficient to win the election in 2008, since there are 538 total and 270 is a majority. Only a simple majority is needed to win.Nearly all states have a "winner takes all" approach to electoral votes, even though this is patently ridiculous.
