Yes and no. Australia is lucky to be in the economic, social, and political state it is in now. This luck stems from little more than the vast deposits of Natural Resources located on the continent. The author who coined the phrase, Donald Home, intended it as a facetious remark.
However, facetious or not, there are many reasons why Australia really is considered the Lucky Country. Its wealth of natural resources would enable it to be one of the truly self-sufficient countries of the world, if it needed to be.
It is multicultural, and people from other countries who have skills to offer and a contribution to make to society are welcomed, as long as they apply for entry legally.
It is a wealthy country, with a healthy economy, and one of the few that rode out the Global Financial Crisis with minimla impact.
it is a peaceful country, with no civil wars and no ongoing conflicts with neighbouring countries.
It is unique for its landmarks and animals.
It has a good climate, ideal for outdoor living, although the summers down south can see heatwaves and bushfires. However, though harsh at times, it is not a climate that is depressing or gloomy.
It is a free country, where political freedom is permitted, and people can choose their own religion or none at all.
Everyone has the right to a good education, and to healthcare that (though often criticised by Australians) is one of the best systems in the world.

Our neighbours in the Lucky Country, Australia.
Australia exists because it works for the privilege We are only lucky insofar as we have a European background and and as a result understand how to keep a keep a stable government.
Because Australia is a multicultural country so it's lucky because it shares so many cultures within it
Australia - Australians have always considered our country to be called the lucky country, early settlers and migrants through it lucky to have come to a place with lots of food, fresh air and plenty of work.
Australia is lucky. I guess that is why we call it the lucky country? We don't have much famine and poor people and flies buzzing around here as they do in other countries, so not many of Australia is unhealthy. Of course, the bushfires and droughts over here are a real pain in the neck... :D

Australia is known as the lucky country, one of many lucky people. However when it comes to expenses of arrival it is a different story. British people mostly can afford this migration where as refugees that end up in Christmas Islands can't. Australia is a country where not as many crimes happen. This is because our good Government system and law enforcement.
