Why is Europe and Asia joined together but not just 1 continent?

Europe and Asia lived isolated from each other for thousands of years. They have a much different history, culture, language groups, etc. to be considered the same continent. Basically, there is just too much difference.

Europe and Asia are visibly obviously one landmass. They are separated into two continents for political and historical regions, as the are way too different to even be considered the same of anything. It's like comparing a banana to a head of lettuce, too different.

The landmass of Europe and Asia does have a name, however: Eurasia. However, Eurasia is also joined to the continent of Africa (more specifically, Asia to Africa). Together, these three continent form the largest landmass on the planet: Afro-Eurasia.

The seven continents that the average person is aware of are not truly geographical continents, but political continents. In addition to Africa, Europe, and Asia all being connected, North and South America are also connected too, forming the supercontinent of America, the second largest landmass on the planet. So in a geographical sense, there are truly only four continents:

Afro-Eurasia, America, Antarctica, and Australia.

Europe and Asia are split for political reasons. The two are just so diverse that they cannot be considered the some continent.
