Answer 1

First we must understand the connection of God and the tabernacle Israel carried with them into the promise land. All things connected from Adam, Noah, Abraham, Bondage in Egypt, Moses and King David. The Ark of the covenant that went before Israel during 40 years in the wilderness. The Ark has the Ten Commandments of God and Aaron's bud inside. The Tabernacle which was portable was replaced by Solomon's Temple. This Temple King David wanted to build unto God but God told David no, he was a man of war. So David prepared all the vessels of Gold and all instruments of service required for God. David gathered cedars of Lebanon, stones for the footings toward the building of the temple. All of the Priests' garments were made of royal colors, purple and blue. The first garments were made in a fashion with a circle in the center of the garment to the heart, stiched in a way that the garment could not be rent or torn from the priest. The breast plate of stones that represent each of the twelve tribes of Israel. Abraham the father of many nations begat Issac by faith, for God told Abraham that Sarah would bare a child. Sarah was pronounced barren and Abraham was very old to father a child. Yet God gave Sarah and Abraham the child Issac. Issac begat Jacob and Jacob begat Joseph which was the youngest of all 12 children that Jacob had. Joseph was tricked by his brothers and left for dead in a pit. He was rescued and brought into Egypt later the other brothers went to Egypt and this is the beginning of Israel and 12 tribes. For out of Egypt came Israel a nation God called His own. The Temple was used for all the animal sacrifices (meals prepared) and feasts that are in Leviticus 23. Prayer and service in preparation was to be done as God instructed Moses. Only the High Priest was able to speak to God behind the veil in the temple. Forgiveness of sin, the sin came in through Adam and Eve, deceived by the serpent eating from the tree of knowledge. Remembrance of Noah and the flood as a rainbow is set in the sky after a rain. The covenant with Noah to never destroy the earth by flood.

The Temple reflects back to the beginning of creation and looks forward towards the Messiah (Christ Jesus). Beyond into the future of Revelations.

The 1st and 2nd Temple was built in a manner where no stone was seen around the base. Christ was not born yet. The 3rd Temple might show the base of stone. The Temple is Israels heritage with God from the beginning, God dwelt inside the Temple until the hearts of the people turned away from His sacrifices and God found no pleasure in their sacrifice. The sacrifice of Jesus has become a sweet savor, God accepted and found favor in Jesus. The 3rd Temple will be made again in Gods timing. This will signify the end to be very close at hand. This Temple unknown by Israel will be set as a abomination to God which Satan shall dwell. The more perfect Temple is in Christ Jesus His body given for us.

Answer 2

At the current time, Jews should not build the Third Temple. First, only the Messiah can build the Third Temple, which means that if ordinary Jews were to build the structure, the Shekhina or Divine Presence, would not rest there. (This is similar to the reason why King David could not build the First Temple. Even though he was physically capable of building the Temple, he was spiritually incapable of doing so.) Also the destruction of the Dome of the Rock Shrine and Al-Aqsa Mosque, which would be required to build the Third Temple would be an affront to Jewish tolerance for other religions, the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, and is an unacceptable offense in-and-of-itself. It would also lead to mass violence and rioting from the Islamic World which sees the Temple Mount site as the third holiest site in Islam and put many Jewish lives around the world in jeopardy for retaliation.

Why does Israel want to rebuild the third temple?

Israel does not want to build the Third Temple and actively discourages Jewish activities on the Temple Mount. They do this both because the official Rabbinical stance in Israel is that only the Messiah can build the Third Temple and to avoid violence and rioting from the Arab Muslim population which sees the Temple Mount site as the third holiest site in Islam. There are some Jews in Israel who want to build a Third Temple to restore Judaism to the status it was 2000 years ago with animal sacrifices and a closer relatonship to God. None of these groups, though, has actual plans to rebuild the Third Temple; it's more that they think about it on occasion. And they do not have the endorsement of any serious or sizable Rabbinical authority.

Where did the Jews build there 2nd temple?

On the site where the first temple had stood, in Jerusalem. The Romans destroyed the second temple in A.D 70, but one wall, the Western or Wailing Wall, still remains and is an extremely holy site for Jews. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are the Israelis about to start building a temple on the Temple Mount?

The Temple Mount is there, it's the Third Temple that would potentially be built. However, it is not currently possible to rebuild, because the 3rd holiest site in Islam (the Dome of the Rock) is located on that spot. Furthermore, many Orthodox Jews believe that the Temple cannot be rebuilt until the messiah comes. Additionally, it is against Israeli law to make any attempt to start building the Third Temple.

Was the first Temple of the Jews built in 1948 when Israel became a state?

No - it was quite a bit earlier than that, between 970-930 BCE for the First Temple (and 537-516 for the Second Temple). Jews believe that the Third Temple will be built at some time in the future.

Why hasn't the Jewish temple been rebuilt?

Considering how some of the neighbors have reacted to the concept of Jews justliving in the neighborhood, can you just imagine what might happen if a truckloadof concrete and drywall pulled up on the Temple Mount one day, and Jewish workmenstarted clearing land for the Third Temple! The mind boggles. It'll be a while yet.

Which king after finding the decree of Cyrus giving the Jews permission to return and build the Temple ordered the end of opposition to the Temple construction and began to support the project?

Darius.

Why don't the Jewish people still do sacrifices if they don't believe the messiah has come?

The Jews do not have a Temple in which to carry out their rituals. The Tanach (Jewish Bible) specifies that prayer replaces sacrifice when the Temple is not standing.Additionally, one of the prophecies of hamoshiach is that he will build the third Temple at which time sacrifice will be reinstated.(Please note that the Christian concept of messiah doesn't exist in Judaism.)

Which empire were Jews part of when they were allowed to return from exile to build the second temple?

What temple of the Jews did the Romans destroy?

The Second Temple.

Why did the Jews tell Jesus in St. John's gospel it took 46 years to build Solomon's temple?

They told Him this because it was true. It did take 46 years to build Solomon's temple. If you think of how they had to build everything back then, it would take seemingly forever to build anything. They had no electric/battery operated machines. And they also had to do all the heavy lifting without any help...other than more humans. And If you know the story, the temple is rather large. So it is believable that it took that long to build the temple.

Who finally made the decree that said the Jews could build their temple without any opposition?

King Cyrus of Persia issued the decree that the Jews may build their Second Temple (2 Chronicles 36:23). However, this decree soon saw opposition (Ezra ch.4) by the enemies of the Jews. It was set in final motion by Darius (Ezra ch.6) the king, a couple of decades after Cyrus's original permission had been granted.
