The official state flag of Texas, called the Lone Star Flag, was adopted in 1845 when Texas became the 28th state of the United States. The colors represent bravery (red), purity (white), and loyalty (blue). The large white star was first used on Texas flags in the 1830's during the battles between Texas and Mexico.
The Maple Leaf flag was chosen in 1967.

There is only one star on the Texas flag, which represents the Lone Star State.
The star that represents Texas is located in the far right vertical column. It is the star that is 2nd from the top. If you draw a rectangle shape with that particular star being on the left side of the rectangle, you will find that the Texas flag will appear within that rectangle. The Texas flag is always flying when a U.S. flag is flying. The Texas flag just happens to blend in to the U.S. flag until you place a rectangle around it. The Texas flag is the only state flag that is allowed to fly within the U.S. Flag.
