Yes coil packs can do that I have an 01 Lincoln LS v8 and the only thing u can do is go down to an auto part store and pick up a code reader. Drive the car around for a while wait till the check engin light comes on plug code reader in get code and replace the coil pack there about 90 something each but if u got triple a then at napa u get 30% discount so about 60 some bucks

Check for codes... It maybe a bad coilpack. Or bad sparkplugs.
