Although a smaller university, with a current enrollment of about 3,100 students.One of Tuskegee's most illustrious graduates, who was the training pilot for the 99th Flying Training Squadron (The Tuskegee Airmen), and the first African-American to gain the rank of General (4-star), was USAF General Daniel "Chappie" James Jr. Chappie holds a special place in the Tuskegee University Hall of Fame.
