How was Truman's relationship with Stalin different from FDR's relationship with the Soviet leader?

When Roosevelt died in 1945, he was replaced with Truman. Stalin had a lot of respect for Roosevelt, but Truman had strong anti-communist policies. Stalin did not like Truman as he was much less of an internationalist than Truman. That kinda started the mutual suspicion.

FDR's relationship with Stalin was defined by the fact that the USA and the USSR were allies against Hitler's Germany. So at almost all costs, friendly relations had to be maintained and a common strategy against Germany had to be found and maintained. The USSR was a large recipient of US help, intelligence, goods, and military hardware during FDR's tenure as President.

Truman's relationship with Stalin was defined by the break-up of the Alliance after Germany's defeat and by the start of the Cold War after the USSR had first established Communist governments in several European countries and after it had successfully developed its own atomic bomb. These developments caused a sharp rise in anti-Communist feelings and fears in the USA. President Truman was the driving force behind the establishment of NATO as an anti-Communist alliance. Truman also formulated the so-called Containment Policy that held that Communist influence (at all costs) had to be contained within the areas it now held sway over.
