I served at the US Army Depot from May 1969 to April 1970, and we under rocket attack frequently. The Army Depot was located on a barren peninsula of sand with Cam Rahn Bay on one side and the South China Sea on the other. The storage areas were closer to the bay and the docks. The troops who worked in the depot were billeted further from the bay and tended to be safer at night when the rocket attackes occured. Given the distance from the main land across the bay the only effective rocket was the larger 122mm which tended to be in short supply. The preferred target was the Ammunition Dump and I remember it was hit a few times which resulted in some impressive explosions.

I was an Asst Platoon Sgt at Delta Yard Non Perishable food storage which we named "The Delta Super Market". One night our open storage yard was hit by a stray 122 rocket and it made quite a mess to clean up after as a number of pallets of canned food were blown up. I also remember we found an dud sactual charge planted in one of our indoor warehouses but it was felt that it had been there for a number of months if not years given the dust that had accumulated on it. During the time I served in Vietnam none of the men in my company were ever killed or injured my a rocket attack. Thankful for us it seemed the Viet Cong were more interested in destroying supplies at the depot than killing us. However, I don't know of any cases were any rocket attacks disrupted our supply chain.
