The 2003 Lincoln Cent does not differ from the design of the preceeding years or any year after, until 2009. It should show, on the obverse, or front, Abraham Lincoln, looking to the right. To the left of Lincoln the word "LIBERTY" should be written horizontally, to the right of Lincoln there should be the date, "2003" and underneath it there may, or may not be a mintmark, which will be a "D" or an "S". No mintmark means the coin was minted in Philadelphia. Above Lincoln's head the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" should appear, as it does on all current coinage. On the reverse of the coin there should be the Lincoln Memorial in the center. Above it should read "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Above this should be the words "United States of America" Below the memorial, in large lettering it should say "ONE CENT". The coin should weigh about 2.5 grams
