The Supreme Court is a separate branch of government unto itself, the other two being the legislative (Congress) and Executive (the PResident). There are only three. And the founding fathers established this to ensure none could control the other. This is known as the 'balance of power' to protect the Constitution, the source of their powers and shred the Constitution.

This is probably one of the better times in history to observe this as we have President completely out of countrol:

a. sending automatic weapons to Mexico and costing thousands of innocent lives under the guise of 'plausible denial' .

b. instituting a medical reform that demands of the patient that they buy insurance whether they want it or not under penalty of law (actual jail time)

c. continually misrepresenting his office and the will of the people by demanding Congress pass a bill nobody wants (rejected in a bi-partisan effort)

d. selectively financing business entities that are simply fronts for money laundering back to his campaign. And as a consequence tripling the debt and blaming his predecessor for it claiming we can spend our way out of debt with more debt. Repetition of a bad idea is the hallmark of insanity.

e. The corporate graft and corruption of Congress is also a thing to behold.
