· One of my viewpoints could be that well one may be that they considered people should be grateful to Britain because they founded the colonies

· Atnother may be that Briain "protected" the colonies and helped fight the 7 years war.

Actually your wrong. The Patriots (Patriotic/free) were the ones who thought that their king was unfair and wanted to break apart. Meanwhile the Loyalists (Loyalty/stuck to) were the ones who were LOYAL to their king and thought what he was doing was fair

There was just one. From 1775 to 1783 the Patriots revolted against British rule, while the Loyalists wanted to remain under British rule. Most of the latter emigrated to Canada.
