Religion might be different now because of the ease of sharing knowledge with one another. Using the internet, you can discuss your beliefs with somebody in China who believes something different. Also as the times have changed, people have become more open minded and liberal. With the people, religions have somewhat become more liberal. In example, some Methodist Christian churches are now accepting gays and lesbians into their congregations, and in some cases they are the pastors. Churches have tried more over the years to blend into modern culture by bringing different music, more technology (such as sermons over the internet or tv), and more targeted outreach. Over the years people have made new interpretations of The Bible and what faith means to them. Today, you can walk outside in most nations and proclaim that you are an atheist, or Islamic, or Christian. The popular thing today is to politically correct and open-minded.
During colonial times, people had just broken away from the Church of England and some of their beliefs, such as the Anglicans, only slightly differed from that of the Church of England. Also, there were the Brownists and Seperatists (Both known as Purists) who wanted a religion that was pure. Some of them went to greater measures and completely went against most of the Church of England's beliefs. The latter was the group that first came to America. Both however, were very conservative and sometimes harsh groups. Religion was an integral part of everyone's lives. It was very strange for someone not to go to church or not believe in God during colonial times. Religion was in school, politics, and homelife.

Their life-style could be compared to a child's who is living on a farm today. In short it was hard manual work, like feeding the horses, or milking cows.
No, up until the industrial revolution, all glassware was made with the process of glass blowing. Today, machines do most of the work, but it's not uncommon for more collectible glass pieces to be made through the process.
