John Brown, a strong abolitionist, even led a revolt with former slaves into Harpers ferry, Virginia. He stole weapons there to supply his men and they attempted to rescue slaves at harpers ferry. The operation failed and John Brown was hanged. This act was not uncommon for a northerner. These were the kinds of acts an anti-slavery person would do. ---The point is that northerners hated slaver so much that they would risk their lives to abolish it---.
