You are referring to a 1969 Half Franc coin from Switzerland ("Helvetia" is the Latin name for the country). Switzerland does not have "cents" and "dollars" - rather, there are 100 Rappen to the Franc. Also there have not been any 1/2 Rappen coins produced in at least a century.

The exchange rate for Swiss Francs is, as of today (January 8, 2010) SF1.00=US$0.96, so the coin has an exchange rate of about 48 US cents. Numismatically, the coin only has additional value if it is in Uncirculated condition, in which case it is worth perhaps US$2 or US$3.
