Reason one; Because the King of England wanted to tax the Colonists without giving them representation in British parliament. Reason 2; Because the Colonists decided they wanted a better and stronger government, one that would listen to them.

What are the thirteen colonies?

THE ANSWER- I SEARCHED IT--During the years 1740 to 1770 the tension between England and the 13 colonies grew into a full scale war. Suffering from unjust taxation and tyrannical rule, the colonists tried to change and influence the English policy through repeated petitioning and boycotts. After failing to influence England through peaceful measures, war was the colonists' only option. The 13 colonies were therefore justified in starting a revolt against England. According to England however the colonists were not justified in waging war. England was the mother country and the colonists paid the lowest taxes in the world. Being that the colonists benefited from the French and Indian war, colonial help in paying back the debt was expected. The 13 colonies unnecessarily resorted to violence and propaganda in which a minority of Patriots influenced other colonists to believe in a "New England" problem. Despite England's reasons as to why the 13 colonies were wrong to declare war, the colonists were justified in waging war. The colonists in the Declaration of Independence clearly stated their grievances and case against England, declaring to the world the reasons that caused them to separate and fight to become the United States of America.

Later the Patriots raded a ship that was carrying tea from England to America and threw the tea over board. This all leaded to a big war, with the patriots getting their independence

Why did the thirteen colonies declare independence?

Taxation without representation: all taxable transactions had to have taxes collected and then shipped to England for delivery to the King. Many transactions had to wait for approval from the King in order to proceed; a very slow process. And, the King gave no rights of representation to the Colonies even though he was collecting taxes from them. They also wanted to be free of British rule.

Which document outlined the reasons the colonists separated from England?

Its all in the Declaration of Independence....The colonists were cranky because King George III was being a crotch, so they spelled it all out in the Declaration of Independence. This document starts with an introducition, then states all the reasons why King George was a jerk, and then ends with a conclusion. Pretty much the basic answer as to why the colonies wanted to break away is that they wanted to be able to govern themselves. They wanted the three branches of government that we have today.
