The English came to the New World with old ways. They came from places were all the land belonged to someone and there were fences telling whose land it was. Europe was an old world with set ways and standards. Then, they landed in a world where there were no fences, no one seemed to own the land and it was endless. The forests were full of trees and animals and they saw a world that seemed open and ready to be taken. They didn't consider the Native Americans living there important or as people who were part of the land. Two cultures now met with two different ideas of land and nature.

To the Native American no one could "own" land and it belonged to no one. They used the resources with care and took care of the land. The land and life were connected. Hurt one and the other is hurt. They didn't have an understanding of the European view of land owner ship. This was one of the main differences between the two cultures and it ended up clashing over the years. The European view meant that they had to remove the people who were all ready there and if that meant enslavement ( Spanish did that), killing them ( English and Spanish did that) or making them move ( both Spanish/ English did this) that is what it took for them to have what they wanted. It was a shellfish view of the world, a narrow view that they were better and more important than the people living there for centuries. This difference just kept growing and getting worse and because of the overwhelming numbers of settlers entering the new world the Natives living there were out numbered in the end.

Did the Europeans use the lenni lenape Indians as slaves?

Lenni Lenape were slave owners! In fact Europeans looked down on selling them to the lenni Lenape because they were cannibals. Just as likely to eat a slave once he got old or food was short. This is one of the reasons they called them savages.

Why did people destroy the native American culture?

The sharp decline in the bison population. -- There were numerous reasons, but the one that had most input was the US Government, they exterminated the buffalo, massacred Indian villages, separated all Indian tribes, and took away their weapons. The Indians became massively dependent on the food handouts from the US gov, the gov undermined the Indian social structure and hierarchy when they made some loyal (toward the USA) Indians into US style police officers. The government made the younger Indian generation attend christian schools, and they never learnt the Indian way of life. The US assimilated the Indians by making them FARM like the whites, given one plot for each Indian Family.

Why did many native tribes suffer after the Revolution?

DISCLAIMER:THIS IS VERY OVERSIMPLIFIED one of the many reasons why Native American Tribes suffered after the Revolution is Disease . Especially the smallpox virus .For example the Cherokee. Nearly all the population of the Cherokee tribe was wiped out because of the smallpox epidemic that took place. The source of this epidemic however, was the Europeans. When the Europeans came to the so called ''New world'', they brought the smallpox virus with them, through trade with the native tribes. Unlike the Europeans, the natives were not accustomed to this and the epidemic struck. This is one of the many ways this question can be interpreted.
