The Adams-Onís Treaty or the Transcontinental Treaty settled a dispute between Spain and the USA over borders by attempting to draw clearer borders, roughly granting Florida and Louisiana to the U.S. while giving to Spain everything west of Louisiana from Texas to California. The new boundary was to be the Sabine River north from the Gulf of Mexico to the 32nd parallel north, then due north to the Red River, west along the Red River to the 100th meridian, due north to the Arkansas, west to its headwaters, north to the 42nd parallel north, and finally west along the parallel to the Pacific Ocean.
The treaty was negotiated by John Quincy Adams, the Secretary of State under U.S. President James Monroe, and the Spanish foreign minister Luis de Onís.
Under the terms of the Treaty, the US would receive Florida against payment of $5,000,000 in claims by US citizens against Spain.

The Florida cession is when Andrew Jackson claims Florida in 1819 from Spain, by paying 5 million dollars.IMPROVED ANSWER:Lacking mineral wealth, Florida had been nothing but an expensive burden to Spain. Mexico was far more important to Spain. However, Spain demanded a marked boundary between American and Spanish claims in the Far West. President John Q. Adams, quickly agreed, and drew a line across the map from Texas to the Pacific Ocean. The Transcontinental Treaty (aka The Adams ~ Onis Treaty), was signed in February 1819. It was a feat of brilliant diplomacy. In it Spain sold Florida to the United States for $5 million. The transcontinental line through the West did not simply define American and Spanish claims. By extending the line all the way to the Pacific (it is the boundary today between California and Oregon), Adams staked an American claim to the Pacific Coast without spending arms or money. He was one of the first to foresee a transcontinental republic, stretching from sea to sea.

The terms of peace laid out by the Versailles Treaty were actually plans to decimate the German military and economy.
Germans and there allies Answer # 2 The above answer is incorrect. The French and the British were responsible for setting the terms of the Treaty of Versailles (if you are referring to the treaty the ended WWI). Germany, at that time, was not strong enough to set the terms; if so the terms would have been very different.
