The current ten dollar bill depicts Alexander Hamilton. He was the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. He is only one of two people on current US bills who was never President; the other is Benjamin Franklin on the $100 bill.

Just some interesting facts about the ten dollar bill:

  • It is the only current bill featuring a left-facing portrait, all others face right.
  • The ten dollar note, in all its various forms, over the long history of United States Paper Money has also portrayed Abraham Lincoln, Salmon P. Chase, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, Andrew Jackson, Benjamin Franklin and Pocahontas among others.
  • Around 11% of all new bills printed are tens.
  • The face on the $10.00 bill is John Trumbull's 1805 portrait of Alexander Hamilton that belongs to the portrait collection of New York City Hall.

Note that all current US bills have captions under the pictures identifying the person or place shown.
