These tribes were promised land, money and goods for their efforts. They also were outnumbered so unless they fought, they would die. Many tribes were convinced because they got to fight an old rival tribe.

They took the chance that the patriots would win. Some stayed neutral while others fought for the English. Many of the Northeastern tribes had fought the English in the French and Indian war and they still had feelings about the British as a foe.
