How do you get rid of the nasty flower in animal crossing new leaf?

Have no fear for I am here.The red flower is a sign that your town is a trash bin a.k.a. overgrown with weeds and generally untidy and dirty.All you have to is to pick up all your weeds and tidy up your town or ....very rarely will this work but you can sometimes kill it by over watering it. But you can't ever get two of them at the same time. After it dies (in winter), a new one will grow and the old one will go away. One reason they are so bad is because of all of the flies around them. You can catch them with a bug catching net.

The Rafflesia will only wilt and disappear once you've picked any and all weeds surrounding the flower. Once you've cleared the surrounding weeds, it will take two days for the flower to disappear.
