I've never seen a 75 Chevy 350 that didn't come with HEI, as it was a mid-year introduction in 1974. However, if such a thing as a 75 Chevy with point distributor exists, there would be a steel wire running from the ignition switch to the hot side of the coil. The steel wire would need to be replaced with a copper wire. The steel wire acts as a resistor to reduce the voltage to the coil, which is not necessary on an HEI, and would limit the total voltage the coil could produce.
The ignition relay should be that cylindric looking device connecting the dist. cap to the cars other electrical systems. Check the middle wire coming from the dist.
The simplest way would be to call Summit Racing and order a one wire HEI distributor and new plug wires. this Dist will require a simple one wire hook up from the ignition switch. order it for a AMC V8.

Need to know what year the vehicle is and is it still a points car or is it electronic ignition.
how to crank chev 350 out side the car on youtube
could be where your wiring harness goes connects to the fire wall or the ignition switch when it is in the start position not putting voltage to the coil . one way to check this is to put a jumpier wire from the battery to the coil and try to start if it does it could be one of the above
any Chevrolet distributor big or small block will fit, if it has one wiring group comming out of the dist. if there are 2 separate groups of wires, these are for computer controled vehicles. and will not work. you must run a new 12 volt wire from the ignition switch to the dist. the original wire is a resistor wire and will not supply enough voltage to power the new dist.
Yellow wire is your ignition wire.
Make sure you have only about 8 volts going to it not a full 12. There is a resistor wire that should cut the voltage.
It depends on the year of the vehicle, whether it's throttle body injected, electronic ignition...
The Chevrolet 327 plug wire diagram can be obtained from most Chevrolet dealerships. The diagram can also be found in Chevrolet service manuals.
wire that as number one or pull dist. and fix.
