Pitfall seeds are rather useless, but entertaining. You can 'sell' them, but you will not receive any money. The museam will not accept them as fossils. You CAN bury them near another villager in town (of yourself) and fall into it. (To 'push' another villager into a pitfall, keep walking at a person, and you will eventually move them a little.) Watching someone else in peril is always fun to do on a rainy day in the Animal Crossing world!

You can not donate them to the museum and you can't sell them, however tom nook will dispose them for you. If you bury them and someone walks over it, they will fall in.
