What is the walkthrough for Survival Island?

Reality TV is the 11th island in Poptropica. It opened for Poptropica monthly members on February 24, 2010, and for general users on March 24, 2010.

*The following solution includes spoilers and hints.

Part I - Getting on the TV Show

1. Arriving on the island, go just left to Mike's Market. Inside to the left are the clerk and a customer. To the right, by the donuts, is a guy reading a PopTop!cs magazine. When you approach him, he drops the magazine. Pick it up and look inside to find the entry form for the Reality TV show. Tear it out.
2. Go right to the TV World store and get the address for the mail-in application, which is 123 Star Avenue in Hollywood.
3. Go left to the Wayside Motel manager's office and use one of the cheap pens to fill out your application form.
4. Dial the number for Pete's Pizza (555-7383) and order a pizza to be delivered to Room 4-B. Outside, meet the delivery driver and take the pizza up yourself.
5. In the room, meet Bucky Lucas, one-time contestant (the first voted off) on the show. He now hides in squalid seclusion to avoid the show's persistent fans. He will give you a Bucky Lucas special-edition stamp which you attach to your application.
6. Leave the motel and go far right to the mailbox to mail the application. You will appear back at the motel where the Reality TV helicopter has landed on the roof.

Part II - The Show Challenges (can be in any order)

1. Balanced Diet : As the brown dot (top of the pole) moves, move your cursor toward the opposite side of the circle to keep it centered.
2. Boulder Push : your most rapid clicking will almost always be successful
3. Coconut Catch : Stay to the left and center and time your jumps to get groups of single coconuts or preferably groups of three. (More than two others will usually get in each other's way.)
4. Geyser Guess : This is just guessing, and the same geyser CAN erupt twice in a row!
5. Mountain Race : avoid the rocks as you run uphill. Running farther to the right (higher) is an advantage even if you get hit once or twice, because most of the overhead rocks will miss you.
6. On the Line : Click as soon as your line can come close to any fish's mouth. You can time its rise again to hit them. Shallow catches save time.
7. Pole Climb : Click right or left to Dodge the falling coconuts.
8. Shot Put : Click to aim at a 45-degree angle. Click again when the power meter is close to the top. (Best score is 55-60.)
9. Shuffleboard : Select a long shot (long arrow) for the first shot, or bank it hard into one side to go around your opponents. Get close and don't shoot too hard.
10. Turtle Shell Toss : The others will seldom toss 20 pointers. Throwing at a 45-degree angle will guarantee three hits on the 20-point shell. Tip: Aim for the middle of the palm tree in the background and hold your spot for all throws.
11. Totem Hop : When a totem starts to shake, you may have time to leap to another (click on the one you want to jump to). Avoid jumping to the tallest totems (center) as you can get "stuck" there.
12. Water Run : Jump the obstacles and avoid the boar. Fill your bottle COMPLETELY full so it will only take four trips (one less than full) to fill your container to 100%.
13. Hang Gliding (new) : You fly across the sky and avoid the volcano erupting and birds Tip: Always stay near the top of the screen.
14. Knockout (new) : Each contestant takes one shot ineach of the three rounds. Aim for the plate with the least damage (except your own). Pull about halfway back to hit the lower row, and farther back to hit the top row.

Winning a day's challenge always gives you immunity when the votes are taken. If you are voted off at any stage, you can return again "the next season" (which is right away) and begin the 7 days of challenges again. The first challenge on your return will likely be the one you last played.

Something to watch for : the game seems to "pick on" users who are 2nd Place finishers on some days. There is no way to guarantee your position, but you may wish to try for 3rd or lower if you see that you cannot win.

You are most likely to be voted off on Day 5 or Day 6. If you win on Day 6, you will obviously determine your final opponent by voting the other one off the island.

If you beat your opponent on the 7th day's challenge, you win the Island Medallion, and the attention of all the fans in the town of Wayside!

Avoiding Losing a Challenge (Browser reset)

Save your game when you first arrive on the TV show.

For the Geyser Guess or any challenge, you can escape by closing your browser window before you actually lose the challenge. The game will reboot to the start of that day, and will usually select a different challenge from the one you were playing. Getting challenges you do well in can often save time in acquiring your Island Medallion. Very seldom do players succeed in the first set of 7 they play.

Beating the Challenges Again

Even if you win, you can come back as many times as you like and do the show again. Each time you win, your medallion will say the corresponding number: "1-Time Winner", "2-Time Winner", etc. However, you will only earn the 100 credits for the first win.

Reality TV Island is the 11th island of Poptropica, slated for general release on March 24, 2010.

The island is basically a series of challenges (mini-games) against a group of computer character opponents. The Poptropica player is a contestant on a Reality TV show (such as Survivor), where one of the contestants is voted "off the island" after each round. To assure your safety, you should win as many games as possible. If all the others are voted off, the player wins the Island Medallion.

There are various characters, including some from previous islands. They include a hippie, a Gangsta, a diva, a Baseball player, and others. Unfortunately none of the contestants has a separate personality or skill - they are pretty much interchangeable and anonymous.

Getting on the show

1. First go into Mark's Market. Go to the right by the donuts is a man. Talk to him and he will run away and drop his magazine (PopTop!cs.) Pick up the magazine and find the reality T.V slip, tear it out.

2. Now go to the right to T.V world store. Change the channel and it has the address which is 123 Star Avenue in Hollywood.

3. Go to the left to the Wayside Motel manager's office and use one of the pens to fill out the form.

4. Dial in Pete's Pizza's number (555-7383) into the phone at the office. Order a pizza and make it be delivered to 4B. Go outside 4B and take the pizza to the room.

5. When you are in 4B, you meet Bucky Lukas, one-time contestant, first voted off. Talk to him and he will give you a Bucky-Lukas special edition stamp to put on your application.

6. Leave the motel and go to the mailbox far left. You will end up back at the motel on the roof were a Reality TV island helicopter has arrived. ( Get in it)

Arriving on the Island (Find the Inventor)

Layout: Factory/ Boutique/ Museum/ Club

* OPTIONAL * Go left into the Museum, where you will view a short video that details how the robots have taken over the planet. Talk to the curator to learn about his toolkit. Exit the museum.

1) Go left, and climb to the top of the Robo-Bling Boutique (multiplayer room) where you will find the toolkit.

* OPTIONAL * Go right to the Club Noveau Riche, where you are mistaken for an A/C repairman. Talk to the robo-owner inside, who asks you to find a way to cool him off.

2) Go far left to the Factory. Inside, the conveyor is not working. Climb up and use the crane to reach the circuit breaker box at upper right.

3) *Jump off left halfway up, and use the computer control to lift the wall at upper right.

4) Finish going up, and go right to the breaker box. Use the screwdriver (place and turn counterclockwise) to remove the screws, then reset the breaker for the factory. The workman will give you a small but very powerful fan.

5) Go all the way back to the Club and use the fan, and the owner gives you a nickel.

6) Go all the way back to the factory, and past it, to meet the homeless guy. Give him the nickel and he gives you a pair of thermal goggles.

7) Go all the way back to the Club (getting tired?) and go upstairs inside. When you use the goggles at the bar, upper left, you will see something move in the vent.

8) Go outside, and climb to the small doorway near the roof at the right side. (If there is a game ad there, you can jump left from it. Otherwise, use the fan to lift you to the door. You can actually fly with it! Click at lower left to turn it off.)

9) Use the toolkit to open the door panel (unscrew the cover).

10) Go inside to find the Inventor, who blocks your path and runs. Roll the Victrola phonograph into the elevator to get past, then climb at the right side.

11) When the inventor escapes, use your goggles on the keypad. The numbers he pressed will appear warmer : blue the first number, green the second, yellow the third, and red the fourth and latest. Press the numbers (2014 and enter) and follow the Inventor up to the roof.

12) He will explain what you have to do and give you the remote control for his VTOL jet. (you do not have to watch the whole video) Call it and fly away.

* You must get the most points, and win all five games. You can try as many times as you need.

First Game Show - Istanbul (you can play them in any order without problems)

13) Go far right and climb up to where the workman is working on the Hagia Sophia towers.

14) Relocate the minaret from the second to the fourth pedestal. The process: label the tower pieces A, B, C, D and the three pedestals 2, 3, and 4. The fastest relocation is fifteen moves - A3, B4, A4, C3, A2, B3, A3, D4, A4, B2, A2, C4, A3, B4, A4. You get the ticket to compete on Scaredy Pants.

15) Use the ticket to start the show. There are three challenges.

16) Darkness Dive - swim down, right, down, left, down, and then right to reach the glow stick. The secret here is to *wait* for the octopus creatures to move away. Trying to rush through will get you shocked.

17) Creeper Keepers - Grab the rats, Spiders, and snakes as fast as you can. You only have to raise them a tiny bit above the bin openings to get them in. If you can't pick the last one up, move a little to the side of it.

18) Tightrope Terror - tilt to the right to roll across, but don't let the color bar go all the way to the right or you will fall.

19) Call the jet and continue on to the second city.

Second Game Show - Miami

20) Go right to the Seashell Motel where the robot hosts of Spin For Riches are squabbling. Ventana will be throwing each of the three prize disks off a balcony.

21) Tilt the awnings to provide short drops all the way to the ground. You will win the ticket to compete on the show.

22) The show is similar to "Wheel of Fortune" in that you try to solve the puzzle by revealing some of the letters. However, you may land on the Lose A Turn (Rad symbol) or on a letter section where you have no choice what to play. You can choose any letters, even vowels, if you land on a question mark. The key is to solve the puzzles as soon as you know them, because it is difficult to win otherwise, even if you get a lot of 100 point letters. Play three puzzles and win.

23) Call the jet and continue on to the third city.

Third Game Show - Buenos Aires

24) The clock tower of the Torre Monumental, at far left, is not working because the wires are not connected properly. Have the strong robot rotate the rings to line up the wires. Turning the outer ring, inner ring, then middle ring should line them all up across the center. Get the ticket to Kerplunk.

25) The game is essentially a "Wipeout" clone. On the first stage, dodge the boots and jump from the spring keys before they launch you. On the second stage, control your motion when you are thrown by the bag, and use the lighted columns to help you jump across the floating platforms. On the third stage, jump to the platforms that were just opened, and behind the rolling balls. Get the fastest time to win the rounds.

26) Call the jet and continue to the fourth city.

Fourth Game Show - Moscow

27) Go right to where the Air Traffic robot has forgotten the landing code.

28) The game is not immediately obvious, but the object is to get the correct four colored lights on any row. There are 4 possible colors for each light : blue, yellow, purple, or orange.

The quickest way takes only 4 floors. For the first level (bottom) leave them all blue and test it to see which of the windows is correct (green light will glow under it). Go up to the next level, change the right ones to blue and change the wrong ones all to yellow, then test again. On the third floor, whichever windows were neither blue nor yellow, try as purple. (Each time you go up, you have to change the ones that were right to that same proper color.) On the 4th level, any that were not blue, yellow, or purple must be orange.

29) When you get the four colors right, climb up when the helicopter lands and you get the ticket for Brainiacs (a Jeopardy clone).

30) The game uses some of the questions from the Money Ladder demo game, so playing it first will improve your chances. Beat the other two players to win.

31) Call the jet and continue to the final city.

Fifth Game Show - Tokyo

32) Go far right and enter the Service Entrance. You have to restore the power by creating a continuous circuit path.

33) This is the recycled "steam maze" game from Steamworks Island. Quickly click the pipes to flip them and fit the one that leads into it, making a continuous path before the current reaches it. You win the ticket to Mr. Yoshi's Super Terrific Challenge. There are 3 extremely silly challenges that you have to complete.

- Task One (Spelling Blocks) - The trick here is that the H is on the side of the first Y block, so you change that one and get a Y from the third one, the A.

- Task Two (Hatch Yourself) - Click the egg as rapidly as you can until you emerge.

- Task Three (Bowl Them Over) - Chase the 10 pins and collide with them to knock them out.

34) Complete each of the three before time runs out and Yoshi is amused.

35) Click the metal door behind you to exit Mr. Yoshi's building. Fly back to Main Street when you have beaten all five Game Shows.

Main Street - Beating Holmes

36) Back on Main Street, quickly jump down and into the manhole.

37) The Inventor gives you a thumb drive to use against Holmes, but you first have to get by his "security system."

38) Solve the 4 "slider" puzzles, two on the first level and two on lower levels.

39) Go down into the final chamber and plug the Thumb Drive into Holmes. This restores him to a friendly state and the Inventor gives you the Island Medallion. 40) Climb back up through the hatches to reach Main Street (this may have been an unintentional oversight).

Notes and Glitches:

a) There is a minor glitch if solving on Spin For Riches, as the blank tiles that mark the solution may not appear. You should leave the game and re-enter to fix this. To avoid the glitch, spin once on your first turn each round even if you know the answer.

Survival (aka Survival Island) is a multi-episode quest first released in April, 2014. Each episode takes you through a step in the survival process after your blimp crashes and you are marooned in a wilderness by a storm.

Episode 1 was released April 7, 2014. (Early Access March 20)

Episode 3 was released June 26, 2014 (Early Access June 5)

Episode 1 : Crash Landing / Build a Fire

1) Press the parachute harness to fall to the ground.

2) Pick up the Survival Handbook, at left. You collect the 6 missing pages as you collect the other items you need to set up a fire.

- two pages in the scene to your left (one under a stump you have to push over)

- two in the branches above and to the right of where you landed

- two in the scenes to the right: one high in the tree on the "ridge" and one farther right near the large stump (to the right of the hollow log)

3) Use the springy branches, to climb up, and move left and right between the trees. Climb up until you see (and hear) a woodpecker. He will fly away right. Follow him and climb up to see him again. He goes left again to the top of the tree at far left (where your parachute is). He will fly away to the right again. Follow him and you will find him at the squirrel's tree, where you get the bird nest.

4) As you cross the lower branches, one will break, providing your logs.

5) Head right along the bottom of the ridge and you will find wet kindling (collected, but NOT to be used)

6) Continue to the far right scene and you will find a hollow log. Inside to the left are some mittens.

7) Go all the way back across to the left scene. At the ax stump, wear the mittens and you can break off the ax handlefrom the ax.

8) Climb the tree at far left in the left scene, and jump up to grab the parachute strap. Climb it and go right to reach the backpack. Click it and the key falls down into the snow. Go down and (using the mittens) clear the snow to get the key.

8) Head back to the far right scene. Use the ax handle to pry the large round boulder. It will roll down to the left. Pick up the flint piece and enter the cave.

9) As you move right in the dark, drops of water splash on the unseen ledges. Jump up and right from ledge to ledge, and you will find some dry kindling. Leave the cave.

10) Push the boulder farther left into the hollow. Jump to the left side of the boulder. Notice that the green wind flag at bottom left stops blowing. This is where you make your fire.

11) Click on the "fire" icon (lower left) and perform these steps from the manual:

-- wear mittens and clear ALL of the snow from your fire area

-- set down the bird nest (tinder)

-- click the striker (key) and flint to start a smoldering fire

-- the arrow says "blow on fire" by clicking at the top of that arrow

-- add the tripod of DRY KINDLING (not the wet kindling)

-- add the logs

12) You complete the fire-building episode and receive the Survival Episode 1 Medallion.

Episode 2 : Hook, Line and Sinker

The object is to find a fishing pole, line, and hook to catch a fish.

1) Drop down the rope to enter the fishing step. Climb up and right to get a page, then down right to find the Survival Guide to Practical Ice Fishing.

2) Go left and click the rock to get some worms for bait.

3) Go into the branches to find the other 2 pages of the Survival Guide, and a fishing suit (costume). Click the second rock to find some Pill Bugs underneath.

4) Follow the centipede right below the rock overhang and carve your name on the log.

5) Click the log to go down. Go left past the ad to the second scene.

6) Cross the beaver dam. Jump on the stump at the left side and water will drain out. Jump up and down on top of the three floating (vertical) logs to block the beavers from repairs.

7) Go under the dam and pick up the fishing hook.

8) Continue left and find the Grubs under a rock. Go left into the next scene.

9) Climb the tree to cross the ice pond, and find the Fishing Rod in the branches.

8) At the far side there are fish under the bank, but there is ice on the water.

9) Click the flat rock and flip it right 3 times to block the entry to the hollow log. Push over the tree to the left of the rock and it will form a ramp for the boulder. Push the boulder left and it will roll off the bank and break the ice.

10) Go left into the third scene and push over the three trees. The third becomes a floating log which you jump on to move it left.

11) Get the old shoe that has a shoelace: this can be part of your fishing line, but it is not long enough.

12) Continue floating left to the hollow stump. Climb to the top. Use your first shoelace and it goes onto the rod. Use your fish hook and it goes on the line. Equip the rod and use the spacebar to lower the line into the stump, and hook the other shoe. Use this shoelace and it adds to the length of your line.

13) Use the log to return right. Go to the ice pond and use the Worms from your item bag to add one as bait.

14) Press the spacebar to lower the line next to the fish, and you will catch one. You receive the Survival Episode 2 Medallion. (part three follows)

Episode 3 : Distress Signal

(as seen in the first two episodes, someone is observing your survival efforts)

You find an abandoned tower, but you need a radio to send an emergency call for your rescue.

1) Climb the tree to jump into the hollow inside, and you can get the hard hat.

2) Climb the tower, where you will find a diagram for creating a makeshift battery. Farther right you will find some loose wires that can be used for that purpose.

3) Go right, where you will find a deep ravine. Climb up to find a crashed Mews Airlines plane. Go inside and pick up the manifest. When you try to get the radio, the plane tips and drops you out

4) Continue right to find more parts of the plane. Knock a long piece down from a tree to form a ramp over the rapids. Stand on the left to tilt it, *run* up the angle, then jump hard from the high right side. Continue right to the next scene.

5) Go to the far right and climb the tree. At the top, enter the tail of the plane and get a nail from the crate inside

6) Jump left to the first tree where there is a pocket knife tool stuck in a branch. Remove it, then climb back up the second tree.

7) Cut loose the branch holding the rope that the lemon crate is hanging from, then jump on the branch so that you lower it to the ground. Use the knife to cut the rope and the crate will fall and smash open, and you can take a lemon with you.

8) Go left and use the knife to finish cutting the half-cut tree, and it will fall over to bridge the rapids.

9) On the branches is a bag of coins. Look through them and find the scratched copper penny.

10) Go left again to the plane. Climb up and use the knife to saw the branch, and the plane will fall level again. Cross to the right side, enter, and get the radio. You will have to get out quickly, because the plane will plummet into the ravine.

11) Select the radio and click "assemble" to build your battery for the radio. Shove the zinc nail into the lemon and pull the black wire over to attach to it. Shove the copper penny into the lemon and hook the red wire to it. This chemical battery will give you a small amount of electric power. Toggle the ON button, and set the second switch to Transmit.

12) Go left and climb the tower. Push the switch that lowers the stairway at the upper right, and you can reach the first girder. Push off the end cap from the right side, and go to the left and use the pocket knife: there is a Phillips-head screwdriver as the third blade. The girder will pivot around the center bolt to use as a ramp. Tilt it, run up and jump to the hanging platform at upper right.

13) Jump left to the other connected platform, and climb the ladder to the next level. If you try to use the next ladder, it breaks off.

14) So, on the second girder, again use the screwdriver to undo both sides of the girder. (Oddly, you have to *select the screwdriver blade* every time you use it.) Tilt the girder, run up, and jump to the broken ladder.

15) Jump up using the radio dish. The next ladder is also weak, so climb the hanging chain to get past the weak part.

16) At the top of the tower, you have a strong-enough signal. Use the radio to send a Mayday call. Strangely, you get a response almost immediately, and a helicopter appears to lift you from the tower. Unfortunately, the radio message is from someone named Myron Van Buren -- the warning written on the plane's manifest says not to trust MVB!

17) Climb the rope ladder into the copter, and receive the Survival Episode 3 Medallion.

Survival (aka Survival Island) is the 38th island, a multi-episode quest first released on April 17, 2014 (Early Access for paid members on March 20). Each episode takes you through a step in the survival process after your blimp crashes and you are marooned in a wilderness by a storm (build a fire, catch fish, radio for help, and eventually make your escape from a menacing foe.).

Episode 1 : Crash Landing / Build a Fire

1) As you parachute from the stricken blimp, you land in the trees. Press the parachute harness to fall to the ground. There is snow and ice and it is very cold. If you stop moving or spend too long on one process, you "freeze" and have to restart to continue. This is an annoyance but not a major problem.

2) There are 4 active scenes: forest left, landing area, ridge area (right), and eventual camp area.

3) To your left is a Survival Handbook, but the first 6 pages have blown out. You can collect them you collect the other items you need to set up a fire.

- two in the scenes to the right: one high in the tree on the "ridge" and one farther right near the large stump (to the right of the hollow log)

4) To get the other 8 items you need, you will have to cross back and forth between the scenes. You can use the springy branches, but you will still need to move left and right between the trees.

- bird nest (tinder)

- logs

- wet kindling (not used)

- mittens

- ax handle

- striker key (in backpack)

- flint (stone)

- dry kindling

5) The closest item besides the two pages is the bird nest. If you go right, you will see a squirrel climb a tree. He will not let you take the nest that is there. Go back left and climb up until you see a woodpecker. He will fly away right. Follow him and climb up to see him again. He goes left again to the top of the tree at far left (where your parachute is). He will fly away to the right again. Follow him and you will find him at the squirrel's tree, and his noise drives the squirrel away. Pick up the bird nest.

6) As you cross the lower branches, one will break, providing your logs.

7) Head right along the bottom of the ridge and you will find wet kindling (collected, but NOT to be used)

8) Continue to the far right scene and you will find a hollow log. Inside are some sleeping mice and (at left) your pair of mittens.

9) Continue right to get the guide page, then go all the way back across to the left, where you will get two more items.

10) At the ax stump, wear the mittens and you can break off the ax handle from the ax.

11) Climb the tree at far left in the left scene, and stand under the dangling parachute. Jump up to grab the strap, and climb to the branch. Go right to reach the backpack. Click and the key falls down into the snow. Using the mittens, clear the snow to get the key.

12) Head back to the far right where the large boulder is perched on a hill. Use the ax handle to pry it loose. It will roll down to the left. This creates a wind-free zone to the left of the rock, and breaks off a piece (your flint). It also uncovers a small cave.

13) Pick up the flint and enter the cave. There is a sleeping bear inside! You must not wake it. When you move right, drops of water splash in the darkness above, showing there are ledges higher up. Jump right from ledge to ledge, and you will find some dry kindling. Leave the cave.

14) You now have everything you need for your fire. Push the boulder farther left into the hollow. Jump to the left side of the boulder. Notice that the green wind flag at bottom left stops blowing. This is where you make your fire.

15) Click on the "fire" icon (lower left) and perform these steps from the manual:

-- wear mittens and clear ALL of the snow from your fire area

-- set down the bird nest (tinder)

-- click the striker (key) and flint to start a smoldering fire

-- the arrow says "blow on fire" by clicking at the top of that arrow

-- add the tripod of DRY KINDLING (not the wet kindling)

-- add the logs

16) You complete the fire-building episode and receive the Survival Episode 1 Medallion. The scene continues, but when you return to it, you may have to build the fire all over again to proceed to episode 2.

Episode 2 : Hook, Line and Sinker

1) The object is to find a fishing pole, line, and hook to catch a fish. You will also have to break the ice covering the fishing spot. The pages to the Survival Guide are much easier to find. There are 3 areas, all to the left of the beginning point.

2) Drop down the rope, then jump up to the branch above right to pick up the first page, then down to pick up your Survival Guide to Ice Fishing. Then go left to find the other 2 missing pages in the trees.

3) Click any rocks you find to see if bugs, worms, or other bait is under them.

4) Below an overhang, you see an orange centipede. Follow him and you can carve your name into a log. You also find a Fishing Suit (just a costume item).

4) Farther left is the fishing pond, and a beaver dam that is flooding part of the area. To reach it, click the log that blocks your downward path.

5) Climb over the beaver dam, where you can see a fishing hook. You have to lower the water level to be able to reach it (you cannot swim through the icy water).

6) At the far left of the dam, jump on the stump and water will begin to drain. But the beavers will fill the three holes with mud again unless you block them. Jump onto each of the three vertical logs as a beaver goes under them, to stop the beaver. The water will all drain and you can walk under to get your hook.

7) Farther left, find some Grubs under a rock, and continue left.

8) To cross the pond, climb the tree, where you find a fishing rod.

9) The part of the bank where you see the fish is frozen over, so you need to break the ice. Click the flat rock and flip it right 3 times to block the entry to the hollow log. Push over the tree to the left of the rock and it will form a ramp for the boulder. Push the boulder left and it will roll off the bank and break the ice.

10) Continue left to the third scene. There are three more trees to push over, but you only need to do the second and third : pushing the third tree from the branch will make it a floating log. You can get it to move left in the water by jumping onto it toward the left.

11) You find an old shoe that has a shoelace: this can be part of your fishing line, but it is not long enough.

12) Continue floating left to the hollow stump. Climb to the top. Use your first shoelace and it goes onto the rod. Use your fish hook and it goes on the line. Equip the rod and use the spacebar to lower the line into the stump, and hook the other shoe. Use this shoelace and it adds to the length of your line. Now you can catch a fish.

13) Use the log to return right. Go right to the ice pond bank and use the Worms from your item bag to add one to the hook as bait.

14) Press the spacebar to lower the line next to the fish, and you will catch one. You receive the Survival Episode 2 Medallion.

Episode 3 : Distress Signal

As shown in episode 1, someone is watching you as you complete the Survival challenges. You find an abandoned tower, but you need a radio to send an emergency call for your rescue.

1) Climb the tree to jump into the hollow inside, and you can get the hard hat.

2) Climb the tower, where you will find a diagram for creating a makeshift battery. Farther right you will find some loose wires that can be used for that purpose.

3) Go right, where you will find a deep ravine. Climb up to find a crashed Mews Airlines plane perched precariously between the trees. Go inside, and you find a manifest. In the cockpit is a radio, but the plane tips over and drops you out before you can get it.

4) Continue right to find debris from the plane scattered around at the rapids. Knock a piece down from a tree and it will form a ramp on a rock. As with two other "ramps" you build on this quest, you have to tilt it, *run* up the angle, then jump hard from the high end.

5) At the far side of the rapids, you must continue right to the next scene.

6) Go to the far right where you can climb the tree. At the top, enter the tail of the plane where you can take a nail from a crate of nails.

7) Jump left to the first tree where there is a pocket knife tool stuck in a branch. Remove it, then climb back up the second tree.

8) Cut loose the branch holding the rope that the lemon crate is hanging from, then jump on the branch so that you lower it to the ground. Use the knife to cut the rope and the crate will fall and smash open, and you can take a lemon with you.

9) Go left and use the knife to finish cutting the half-cut tree, and it will fall over to bridge the rapids.

10) On the branches is a bag of coins. Look through them and select the scratched copper penny at the bottom of the bag.

11) Go left again to the plane. Climb up and use the knife to saw the branch, and the plane will fall level again. Cross to the right side, enter, and get the radio. You will have to get out quickly, because the plane will plummet into the ravine.

12) Click "assemble" to build your battery for the radio. Shove the zinc nail into the lemon and pull the black wire over to attach to it. Shove the copper penny into the lemon and hook the red wire to it. This chemical battery will give you a small amount of electric power. Toggle the ON button, and set the second switch to Transmit.

13) Go left and climb the tower. Push the switch that lowers the stairway at the upper right, and you can reach the first girder.

14) Push off the end cap from the right side, and go to the left and use the pocket knife: there is a Phillips-head screwdriver as the third blade. The girder will pivot around the center bolt to use as a ramp. Tilt it, run up and jump to the hanging platform at upper right.

15) Jump left to the other connected platform, and climb the ladder to the next level. If you try to use the next ladder, it breaks off.

16) So, on the second girder, again use the screwdriver to undo both sides of the girder. (Oddly, you have to *select the screwdriver blade* every time you use it.) Tilt the girder, run up, and jump to the broken ladder.

17) Jump up using the radio dish. The next ladder is also weak, so climb the hanging chain to get past the weak part.

18) At the top of the tower, you have a strong-enough signal. Use the radio to send a Mayday call. Strangely, you get a response almost immediately, and a helicopter appears to lift you from the tower. Unfortunately, the radio message is from someone named Myron Van Buren -- the warning written on the plane's manifest says not to trust MVB!

19) Climb the rope ladder into the copter, and receive the Survival Episode 3 Medallion.

Episode 4 : Cabin Fever

A helicopter sent by "Myron Van Buren" picks you up from the radio tower. You meet Van Buren and you are dropped off at his hunting lodge. After a short tour of his trophies (cross the ad room to enter the bottom floor right), you meet his valet Winston. Go with Van Buren to the dining hall (cross the ad room to the bottom floor left). After eating you fall asleep and awaken in a locked bedroom.

1) Click on the three lights below the herald to turn them on and off. Turn the red light on, and you see a message "You are not alone." Turn off the red and turn on the blue, and you see "Meet me in the woods." With just the red and blue lights on, you see the number '0451' which is the front door security code, and the initials MM.

2) Click on the right paw of the bear rug to get its claw. Use it to break the lock on the door.

3) To get past the security lights, wait until the first one goes right, then click the plant to hide behind it. When the light moves right, click to come out again, and jump onto the stuffed walrus. Repeat for the second light and turn off the security system.

4) Exit and go downstairs. Jump on the moose head three times until it falls and reveals the hidden Trophy Room key. Go right and Use the key to enter. (If you try to go upstairs, Winston catches you and you start again from your room.)

5) Collect items in the room:

- click the Spear from the safari

- jump to the elephant, then the crocodile to break it off the wall and reveal the Voice Recording

6) Leave the trophy room and go to the Dining Room/Kitchen. Turn on the water faucet to attract the Chef's attention, then click to hide behind the plant as she passes. Click to jump back out and grab the Water Pitcher. Continue right to the stove and pick up the Tainted Meat. Quickly click behind the other plant until the Chef passes back to the left. Click the water faucet again to quickly fill the pitcher. Leave the room.

7) At the fireplace, click the right candle to open a secret passageway. Use the water pitcher to douse the fire. Go right and blow the Ram's Horn and Winston comes down to investigate. When he does, jump behind the fireplace and climb the hidden stairs to the painting of Van Buren. Click it to jump out from the hidden room and enter Van Buren's bedroom.

8) Cross the room by jumping across the four animal heads. When you get close, Use the spear to hook the Trophy Room key, then leave the same quiet way you came in.

9) Return to the Trophy Room and use the key to open the Armory. Jump to the top shelf to get the Night Vision Goggles.

10) Leave the room and go to the front door. Click the Security system and press 0451. Use the Voice Recording to play Van Buren's voice.

11) Outside, put on the Night Vision Goggles and climb the tree. When you are above the guard dog, drop the Tainted Meat to put him to sleep. Go left and you reach the gate. You receive the Survival Episode 4 Medallion.

12) Unfortunately, you set off an alarm and Van Buren and Winston appear. Van Buren says the hunt is going to begin, and YOU are the hunted prey! The story continues in Episode 5 : Escape!

Episode 5: Escape!

Having escaped from his hunting lodge, you are nonetheless being chased by the evil hunter Myron Van Buren and his dogs.

1) Run as quickly as possible to the left. Click above or higher than your player to jump the puddles and the shrubs (get very close before clicking). Click below or lower than your player to duck under the snow-covered branches of only the backgroundtrees. (*They always occur in the same order: puddle, tree, shrub.) You will fall into a shallow hole that leads to a series of caves.

2) You meet Max Magullicutty (MM), the pilot of the plane from episode 3. He has a bad leg from the crash, and needs you to execute his plan to trap the hunter. You need a rope, a gear, and a whistle, to use at the sawmill just above the caves.

3) There is one useful item in the lower cave: a fishing rod. Collect it there.

4) Go right and up to exit the main room of the cave: there are three exits to your right. You can start at the farthest one and work your way back, or you can do them in any order. If you are caught, you will continue from the previous point.

- Far Right (snare traps)

5) Jump up from the cave and avoid the trap on the first tree, swim or cross to the right avoiding traps and the dog. In the pool below, a beaver is caught in a cage trap. Free him a GEAR from the trap. Cross back to the left and exit.

- Middle Right (flipping rocks)

6) Lift and roll the large flat rock end-over-end leftward to the opening, so that you can jump up from it. Beware the dog near the hole, who patrols back and forth. Flip the other flat rock right until you reach another pivot rock - hide in the bush when the dog is coming toward you.

7) Use the rock to jump to the rocks and trees above, where a bear is caught in a rope trap. Go right, and up, then come back to where the rope is tied. Click to release the bear, then jump down to recover the ROPE.

- Near Right (noisy branches, Van Buren, tent and dog)

8) When Van Buren walks away left, jump up and follow him, avoid the noisy ground branches. Jump into the tree past the woodpecker nest. Climb up, go right to the next tree, then jump *hard* to the right to reach the tree above the tent.

9) Equip your fishing pole. Use the spacebar to lower the hook, which will bring up the WHISTLE. When the dog moves away, jump down left back into the caves and back down to the main room.

10) Back in the cave room, Max tells you to set up the trap, but he gives you no details about how to do it! (You could actually just continue left to the sawmill without seeing him.)

11) Climb back up, go left to the left hole, just below the sawmill. When Van Buren goes off to the right, jump up and run left to the mill. Cross over the Clutch Pedal that connects to the saw, and Use the gear to add it to the saw assembly.

12) Jump onto the water wheel to reach the upper floor. Push the large box off to the right onto the hook below. Use the rope at left to connect it to the other rope and the saw gears below. Now if anyone steps on the Clutch Pedal, the box falls and traps them.

13) Van Buren is nowhere to be seen, so step back and blow the Whistle (Use) to lure him.

14) Your plan backfires! He is right behind you, and you stumble into your own trap!

15) Fortunately, Max has befriended the huge bear you released, and he rides it to the rescue, smashing open the box. As Van Buren aims his bow, you jump up from the pedal and he is pulled backward by the gears, becoming hooked on the water wheel, to the amusement of the beavers.

16) You receive the Episode 5 Island Medallion, and you and Max leave in Van Buren's helicopter.

Notes and Glitches:

a) Episode 2 - In the beaver dam pond, the three floating trees might not appear! However, if you reboot Poptropica and jump on the log that opens the holes, the beavers do not try to close the holes, even if the three trees are not there.

b) Episode 5 - At the tent, if you try to sneak up to grab the whistle, you are caught by the dog but the game can *LOCK UP* Poptropica rather than tell you you were caught. You must reboot and continue from the cave opening. You could end up in the cave to the left.
