The issue with your 1996 Audi A4 not going into reverse or park could be related to a few potential problems. Common causes include a faulty transmission linkage, low Transmission Fluid, or internal transmission failure. It's also possible that the shift solenoid or valve body is malfunctioning. A thorough diagnostic by a qualified mechanic is recommended to pinpoint the exact issue.
Electrical - check voltage to "reverse" selonid. With my knowledge on Nissans, it could also be a transmission problem. If it is a 5-speed, it is more than likely the tranny. Reverse is the gear that goes out first most of the time
Check the transmission fluid level.
Check fluid level Could be a bad pump inside the transmission
1996 gmc 1500 truck will not go in reverse
no oil in the tranny will cause the bands to streatch and will only allow your trany to work in revers
im having same problem they say its a bad plug on the speed sensor going into the tranny
About five.
i have a 1996 z71 my tranny bad in it i have a 1992 z71 tranny will it fix there both 4x4
I'm answering my own question here. I put the 1995 tranny on the 1996 and it works just fine. I just had to put an electronic piece from the 1996 tranny onto the 1995 tranny in order to get the wiring to work. Easy...and the car runs perfect on the 1995 tranny.
sounds like a motor or transmission mount is your likely problem
It is your tranny mount, either the bolts are rusted and broke or they are just loose. or it could also be that your drive shaft became bent but that is very rare unless you drove over something hard enough to bend it. it could also be that if it only bangs when you shift it into gear that you need tranny fluid or your bands in the tranny could be going.
When we have this problem, we turn the ignition off and shift into neutral, restart the engine and it can then be shifted into drive or reverse.
