The answer depends on a couple of things. Are you going to be swimming in the pool or will it be vacant? If nobody is going to be in the pool for those 2 days then you can shut your pool pump off. After shutting the pump off you would want to close whatever valves are there to isolate the pump so that you do not lose the prime as it will make it easier when restarting the pump back up.

Is it ok to leave your pool pump off?

It is best to leave running. Have a neighbor check for anything unusual.

How do you vacuum the waste in your below ground swimming pool?

Your question seems too easy as it is a basic requirement of pool cleaning. However: Attach your vacuum head to your side outlet (unscrew the cover in the side of the pool) using a floating hose. turn off the valves to the bottom drain and the skimmers, leave the pump setting on filtration, fill the hose with water and turn on the pump. After vacuuming the bottom of the pool, switch off pump and return valves to previous setting. be sure to backwash the filter after cleaning if required.

What happens if pool pump is off for 5 days?

Nothing to the plant, assuming the pump and filter are fitted correctly so there are no priming problems. The water may of course accumulate at least some debris needing extra filtering.

Is it possible for a hydrostatic valve to leak pool water only when the pump is not running?

YES THERE IS A LOT OF TRASH THAT CAN GET IN THE VALVE TO MAKE IT LEAK. YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO CLEAN IT FURTHER I found that with the pump running, the pool water was rising as apparently the pump was pulling water out of the ground. This was with the pool water low and the skimmer plugged off in order to try to filter after a bad storm. When I shut off the pump, the pool water went down as the valve did not seat properly.

Do you turn your pump off to the swimming pool if it is freezing outside?

Assuming you live in an area where pools are winterized and shut down for winter, I would run filter for 45min - 1 hour per day. Be carefulk not to over sanitize the pool because chlorine (etc) demand is very low while water is so cold. If you expect to experience freezing weather then do not turn your pump off. LEAVE YOUR PUMP ON. Moving water can not freeze. As water freezes there is expansion. This freezing/expansion can destroy your pump, filter and pipes. Steve Dunn Commercial Pool Systems, Inc.

Do you turn fountain off before vacuuming the pool?

What size pump do you recommend for pumping water off the top of the pool cover before you open your pool in the spring?

Any small submersible pump should do the job. just be careful that it doesn't suction onto the pool cover while it is operating.

How can I use a pump to efficiently drain water from my pool?

To efficiently drain water from your pool using a pump, follow these steps: Connect a hose to the pump's outlet and place the other end of the hose where you want the water to drain. Submerge the pump in the pool and turn it on. Make sure the pump is set to the appropriate setting for draining water. Monitor the water level in the pool and adjust the pump as needed to drain the desired amount of water. Turn off the pump once the water has been drained to the desired level.

What happened if torn off the pump in a pool above ground?

The pump acts as the suction to pull the water into the filter and return it to the pool's jets. What item was torn off? You would have to close the valves on your returns so the pool's water does not come out through the broken part. Can you post pics or explain more? Good luck!
