The connection on top is from the filter inlet (discharge of the pump). The connection on the opposite side of this one is the filter outlet back to the pool. The connection below the filter inlet is for backwashing the filter.
One reason is that you have a Sand Filter and one of the tines is broken
Fuel supply, return, vapor, vapor return. Brake lines may also run next to them.
follow fuel lines to filter. remove lines from filter and fit lines to new filter.
trace fuel lines to filter, disconnect lines from filter, fit lines to new filter
depends on the year, but on the right of the engine there should be about 2 or 3 black hoses going from the fuel filter to the fuel lines next to the intake manifold. the bottom one or 2 hoses are the return lines.
separate the lines from the filter and fit the lines onto the new filter. just trace the fuel lines to find the filter

Depending on the year, the blazers fuel filter is most likely on the frame. While covering the connection with a rag, loosen the fuel lines from the filter. Remove the filter and replace, then reconnect the lines.
there are two fuel lines, one in and one out. the in runs from the front of the fuel rail to a filter under the driver's side , and to the fuel pump in the tank. the return fuel line just runs from the back of the fuel rail along the same path as the supply line (not throught the filter)and into the tank.
Remove the fuel lines from both Ann's of the fuel filter. The lines can be removed by loosening the clamps. Reverse the process to install the new fuel filter.
They are two different sizes and should be color coded
